I studied World War 2 in school – to say that this video is unique is an understatement. We are now getting to the time where those who lived during the World War 2 era are dying and can no longer tell their story. Hopefully the young generation of today will be able to learn from this video.

The brave little girl, who’s family defied the Nazis until they were betrayed lives on far longer than she ever would have hoped.

When people ask me what I do, I explain it like this “You know when you search for something on the Internet? I’m the guy that helps make sure you find what you’re looking for.”

As part of my job as SEO Manager at Sitening, I get to contribute to the Raven blog (Raven is the most powerful suite of Internet Marketing tools available online). The Raven blog is read by Search industry professionals from across the country. This means that articles on the Raven blog need to be well written, of high-quality, provide useful information and be thought provoking. As a contributor, my posts not only represent my professional thoughts, they also represent Raven and Sitening.

So it’s a huge honour personally and professionally to have one of the articles I authored, 7 Social Media Websites and Their Impact on SEO, listed as one of the best internet marketing posts of 2008 (scroll down to Social Media: Strategy for Social Sites – mine is the third one down). I’m particularly honored because the winners were chosen by Tamar Weinberg, Managing Editor at Search Engine Roundtable and owner of Techipedia.

What do you get if you put geeks, nerds, marketers, seo experts and booze all under one roof? Barcamp Nashville, that’s what. An unconference that brings together the tech community of a major town and puts them all together in a mixer and forces them to socialise.

I think the concept is an ambitious one, and epitomises what needs to be done for Nashville to be taken seriously as a tech town. As has been seen at today’s Barcamp Nashville, there are a lot of extremely talented people with extremely big ideas. The fact that they are willing to share their ideas and route to success amongst their peers speaks volumes.

However, I think the problem with something like this, is that the people who really need to attend a conference like Barcamp Nashville never actually do. Partly, I believe where this is where my frustration of today’s event comes from. A lot of the presenters I had seen give a presentation before, so I wasn’t too interested in some of the talks on offer. This is not to say that they aren’t great speakers, because I have a lot of admiration for them, it’s just, well…I’ve seen it before.

On the other hand, I had to make the choice between a panel I would have liked to have seen and a couple of other things that were on at the same time, but perhaps this is just me being a whiney arsed Englishman (because moaning is a national past-time of the English). Please add me as a voice who would like to see the event spread out over multiple days – it just makes sense, maybe not logistically, but for more effective networking and presentation choices.

Oh, and one more thing before I finish, if this is Barcamp, why on earth was the bar so small? I’ve seen bigger bars in my granny’s closet.

Cheers.

As an internet monkeh, I know where my strong points are, and it’s not in PHP. Sure, I can code a (really) basic form, but that’s as far as it goes.

With that being said, I have a personal project that has been in the works for a long time that I fully believe in (yeah yeah, like you haven’t heard that before). Unfortunately, I can’t really reveal anything about the project but I can reveal at least what I’m looking for and what the majority of the work would entail.

Scenario/Vision/Scope:

A user fills in information via a form. That information will then be published on its own page (with a search engine friendly URL). The page design/layout has already been designed (to an extent).

The short term of the project is just for the South. However, in the long term I would like to branch out to the entire U.S

Apart from that, my lips are sealed. If you’re remotely interested, leave a comment. Anyone leaving a snidey comment will be Googlebombed into submission. Heh, just kidding, I’ll spam you instead, I don’t have time for a Googlebomb campaign.

Oh, did I say ‘please’?
